Two parents of deaf son need a tutor to help their woeful knowledge of ASL. Thinking once a week for an hour or two. In Westwood Village (90024).

Hello there,

I'm glad to see that your family is willing to learn sign language since your son is deaf. My mom works for the School for the Deaf in Riverside and she comes across so many families where a child is deaf and the parents are hearing and they refuse to learn sign, making the child feel left out of the family. I know there's classes you can take through community colleges and I found this link: http://www.gladinc.or... and it has a class coming up in September for American Sign language. Also too I would like to suggest maybe investing in a Sign Language Dictionary as this is one of the best ways to start learning. Also, look around for deaf events where you can go and meet other members of the deaf community in Los Angeles. Good luck with your studies I know it will benifit your son greatly smile
