The San Diego American Sign Language Meetup Group
|
Meet other local students, teachers, and fluent signers of ASL. Come practice, learn and meet other signers. It is an informal group that is for hearing beginners wanting to learn ASL. Experienced and/or deaf signers are more than welcome! All levels of ASL are welcome, but this is a great option for those wanting to learn basic conversation, fingerspelling, and practice. Meet up sites can include coffee shops, Libraries, cafes, suggestions welcome.

Our next meeting:
The San Diego American Sign Language May Meeting
Hope everyone is doing good. We have decided to have the next meeting at a new location. This will be just for this month. Next month (June) will be back to our home location. I've gotten a suggestion for our next away meeting. If any one else has any suggestions, let me know.
Hope to see everyone there.

"Hello I am Jolan and I show how you can create up to 30 outfits with 10 pieces from Weekenders."
-
"I'm not surprised that you have it bookmarked, it's a great site. I have a mild case of dyslexia as well. i do the same thing sometimes. I taught myself sign language, then with a profusion of classes and volunteering in a deaf ED class for three years grew fairly proficiant at it. I'mnot sure if I'm going to go to the mira mesa meeting either, although both of your meeting places are almost a half hour away from where I live In imperial Beach... Do you guys always meet on the weekends....? "
-
"BTW, How did you learn ASL? R U going to this next Meetup? I will try but think I may not make it to the Mira Mesa one."
-
"Hey Mindy, thanks for the link. I just so happen to have this as a quick link on my browser. Yes,practice makes better & I do practice quite a bit; however, mostly my problem is kind of like a dyslexia, but a little different. I can spell fine on a paper but to think it out and then reproduce that by FS is difficult...somewhere in the processing everything goes blank. Also reading FS words. Its so strange, I can read the FS letters correctly but then not understand the word. even simple words"
-
"Hey, I read that you have some difficulties reading fingerspelling. Here's a site that might help you, and all of us for that matter. It's wonderful. http://asl.ms/. Hope to meet you all. Mindy"
-
