Hi all,

It's time to practice ASL again. I had to wait that long to make sure the weather will be good- I could not believe it that we had a real strong Thunderstorm/Lighting last Saturday and even though I am fully deaf I woke up because of it exactly 8:30 am!! Wow!! As I am missing Thunderstorms it was quite nice for me having one again. Reminds me very much about my home country. :)
However, let's hope not to have it on our next ASL meetup in Dolores Park.

Our next meetup is this Saturday, September 19th, 2-5 pm.

It will be a Picnic style meetup and everyone can bring something to share to eat (even snacks are fine..remember we simply want to socailize and practice signing).
Just bring your blanket and your good self and relax in beautiful Dolores Park.

I may bring again "Donation Box" as last time I amazingly collected $30 (thank you so very much!!) but need to collect until I cover the annual meetup fee of $144.
Donations are voluntary and if you already have given $2 time you won't need to donate again. Just must see how I get the money together.

Our exact location in the park:

We will meet close to the 20th Street Dolorespark sidewalk between Dolores Street and Church Street (close to Muni Line J)......look at a map of San Francisco in case you are unsure where we are. Muni J stops directly at Dolores Park (ask the driver for the right stop..you have to get off at 20th). Or you can take an easy walk from Bart 16th/Mission for maybe 10 minutes.

When you arrive at 20th Street Dolorespark sidewalk between Church street and Dolores street walk to the middle of the sidewalk of the 20th street look down the grass hill ,you will see the Dolores Park playground for the kids and SF Skyline in front of you. Just walk few steps down the steep hill until you reach the first small flat grass area you can safely stand on and there you will see me ...I try to be almost across the playground (if it is not occupied by someone else) but in the hill area. I will look for you..in case you can't find me please page me on my pager [masked] or send a textmessage [masked]..and I help you to find our group ;)

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Katrin

    •  The Meet-up itself was GREAT. Great weather, people, and ASL conversations. All signing levels attended and seemed to have fun. I do want to complain, though, to whoever put his/her dirty, saucy, trash in my bag. That was NOT a trash bag, as should have been obvious by (a) the two unopened bag (one of chips, one of pretzels) still in it, and (b) the fact that it wasn't YOUR bag. After the ASL picnic, I put my sunglasses and additional picnic items into that bag and took it to the "Opera in the Ballpark" to share with friends. When I reached in to get out my items, they were COVERED in sauce and goo!! I was in the middle of the ballpark, with no napkins, no trashcan, nowhere to wipe or wash my hands, and all of my dinner was covered in goo, as was my sunglasses, water bottle, etc. I could not enjoy the evening, as now YOUR trash was MY problem. I went all over trying to find a napkin to clean up my hands and your mess. You ruined my evening, and that was very inconsiderate.

It was a very exciting and great time. I really enjoyed myself. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I noticed everyone quite patient helpful. The location was perfect not to mention Katrin knows she will not be receiving a refund since the weather was absolutely beautiful. We were greeted immediately and although we were a little nervous the ease in which we were able to become a part of the group made us feel relaxed comfortable. We look forward to our next meeting and the lesson we learned were invaluable. Every time groups of this nature meet and share we get closer and closer in completing our worlds. Rick was the reason we attended this group so thank you Rick very much. Everyone else is the reason we will attend again so hats off to you all. Katrin you are the best!
