About ASL Meetup "Serving DC, MD & VA"
The purpose of the Silver Spring/DC ASL Meetup Group is to help people who want to learn ASL or maintain their skills meet other people to practice with. We also want to engage in recreational activities during which hearing and deaf people can enjoy each other's company without significant communication barriers. Hopefully, we can also offer a supportive group for late-deafened or oral deaf individuals who may not "fit" in either the deaf or hearing worlds.
The Silver Spring/DC ASL Meetup Group can also help anyone interested in someday becoming an ASL interpreter by providing education, information, and support.
This is a great resource for students of ASL to find out about upcoming Deaf / ASL events. If you know of any upcoming events that are not already posted on our calendar please email me and I will post them!
